Tourist Visa-on-Arrival (TVOA) Scheme


Considering more than 10 million foreign tourists visited Indian shores in 2018, it is safe to say that India is well worth a visit. As of 1 May 2017, Indian nationals holding a normal passport valid for a minimum of six months from the arrival date, and a visit visa or green card issued by the USA which is valid for a minimum of six months, or holding a UK or EU residence, can obtain a visa on arrival for a maximum stay of 14 days for a charge of AED120 (subject to change).

A "Tourist Visa-on-Arrival (TVOA)" Scheme is available to International Travellers whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation , sight-seeing , casual visit to meet friends or relatives, short duration medical treatment or casual business visit.

The e-Tourist visa for India is a double entry visa that grants a total stay of up to 90 days from the the date of first entry in India or 180 days for nationals from Japan, Canada, US and the UK. A traveler can obtain a maximum of two e-Tourist visas within one year.


At the external borders, all Indian citizens holding an EU visa can be requested to show the documents that justify the purpose and the conditions of their stay as well as proof ofindian visa online sufficient means of subsistence for the period intended to travel and stay as well as for returning to India or transit to a third state, for which you possess proof of admission.

Thereafter, the online application form must be printed and duly signed on page 1 and page 2 (declaration) and submitted to the High Commission of India, Wellington along with two latest photographs (2” X 2”), prescribed visa fee, passport in original and the required documents for processing of visas.

A VISA certificate is a stamp marked certificate on your passport, made by Indian immigration authorities to indicate that your credentials have been verified and that you have been given permission to enter India for a temporary business visit within a specified period.


Foreign citizens who visit India to study, do research, work, or act as missionaries, as well as all travelers and residents planning to stay more than 180 days, are required to register their visit or residency within 14 days of arrival with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) closest to where they will be staying in addition to having the appropriate visa when they enter India.

When TCVSIL returns your visa, it is important that you immediately verify that all visas you require for your trip have been obtained, that the visas are valid for the dates of your visit, and that your passport is valid for at least six (6) months beyond of the completion of your trip.
